Description
Petosemtamab is an investigational immunotherapy drug being studied for colorectal cancer. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials. These trials are comparing petosemtamab given with chemotherapy to standard chemotherapy plus cetuximab. The trials are specifically looking at patients with left-sided, unresectable or metastatic colorectal cancer whose tumors do not have common mutations in the RAS or BRAF genes (wild-type). Petosemtamab is designed to help the body's immune system fight cancer cells.
Mechanism of Action
Petosemtamab is a type of immunotherapy. It is a monoclonal antibody. It targets a specific protein on cancer cells, which helps the immune system recognize and attack those cells. The specific protein target is being characterized in clinical trials. By binding to this protein, petosemtamab may help the immune system destroy the cancer cells.
