Description

Gevokizumab is an investigational immunotherapy drug currently being studied in clinical trials. It is being investigated for its potential use in treating metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), as well as other types of cancer like gastroesophageal and renal cell carcinoma. The goal of the trials is to find the right dose of gevokizumab and see how well it works when given alongside standard chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. It is not yet approved for treating any cancer.

Mechanism of Action

Gevokizumab is a monoclonal antibody. It targets a specific protein involved in the growth and spread of certain cancers. By blocking this protein, gevokizumab aims to help the body's immune system better recognize and attack cancer cells. The specific protein it targets is being studied in clinical trials.

Side Effects

Gevokizumab is still in early-phase clinical trials (Phase 1). Therefore The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. Side effects observed in early trials often include those related to the standard cancer treatments given alongside gevokizumab (like chemotherapy). Specific side effects related to gevokizumab itself are still being determined in ongoing studies.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
