Vvdd-hil-2-rg-1

Other Medications

Description

Vvdd-hil-2-rg-1 is an experimental treatment currently being studied in Phase 1 clinical trials for certain types of metastatic gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal cancer. It is being investigated for patients whose cancer has not responded to standard treatments like chemotherapy or immunotherapy. This treatment involves injecting the drug directly into the tumor. The goal is to stimulate the body's own immune system (specifically T-cells) to fight the cancer within the tumor microenvironment, potentially reducing side effects compared to systemic treatments. The trials are designed to determine the safest dose and how patients respond to the treatment.

Mechanism of Action

Vvdd-hil-2-rg-1 is a modified virus (oncolytic virus) designed to target cancer cells. It contains a gene for a specific protein (IL-2) that helps activate immune cells (T-cells) to attack the tumor. By delivering this protein directly into the tumor, the treatment aims to boost the local immune response against the cancer while potentially minimizing the impact on the rest of the body. The virus itself is also designed to replicate within cancer cells, further contributing to their destruction.

Side Effects

As this is an experimental treatment in Phase 1 trials The full range of side effects is still being evaluated. Side effects observed in early trials might include local reactions at the injection site (like pain Swelling Redness) Flu-like symptoms Or other immune-related effects. More detailed information on side effects will become available as the trials progress. Patients participating in the trial will be closely monitored for any adverse events.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
