VS-7375

Other Medications

Description

VS-7375 is an investigational drug currently being studied in clinical trials for certain types of cancer. Specifically, it is being evaluated in patients with advanced solid tumors that have a specific mutation in the KRAS gene, called G12D. This mutation is sometimes found in colorectal cancer, although it is more common in other cancers like pancreatic and non-small cell lung cancer. The goal of the trials is to see how safe VS-7375 is and if it shows any signs of effectiveness (efficacy) in shrinking tumors or slowing their growth in patients with this specific KRAS mutation. It is being tested alone and in combination with other cancer treatments like chemotherapy (carboplatin, gemcitabine, nab-paclitaxel, pemetrexed) and targeted therapy/immunotherapy (cetuximab, pembrolizumab). VS-7375 is not yet approved for use in colorectal cancer or any other cancer.

Mechanism of Action

VS-7375 is designed to target a specific protein involved in the KRAS G12D signaling pathway. The KRAS G12D mutation makes the KRAS protein constantly active, which can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and tumor formation. VS-7375 works by inhibiting this mutated KRAS protein, aiming to block the signals that promote cancer cell growth and survival. The specific molecular target is being characterized in clinical trials.

Side Effects

VS-7375 is still in early-phase clinical trials (Phase 1/2). Therefore The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. In the ongoing Phase 1 trial (NCT07020221) The primary focus is on assessing safety. Common side effects observed in early trials of cancer drugs can include fatigue Nausea Diarrhea Decreased appetite Vomiting Constipation And abdominal pain. More specific side effects related to VS-7375 are still being determined as the trials progress. Patients participating in these trials are closely monitored for any adverse events.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
