VET3-TGI

Other Medications

Description

VET3-TGI is an experimental treatment being studied in patients with solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is a modified version of a virus (VET3) that has been changed in the lab to specifically target and kill cancer cells while sparing healthy cells. It is being tested in a Phase 1 clinical trial to determine the right dose and how safe it is. The trial involves injecting VET3-TGI directly into tumors or giving it through a vein. Some patients in the trial are also receiving VET3-TGI along with another immunotherapy drug called atezolizumab. The trial aims to find the highest safe dose and see if VET3-TGI shows signs of working against the cancer. This treatment is still in early stages of testing.

Mechanism of Action

VET3-TGI is a modified virus designed to selectively infect and destroy cancer cells. The virus has been altered in the laboratory to enhance its ability to target cancer cells and reduce its ability to harm healthy cells. It is administered either directly into the tumor or intravenously. The specific way it kills cancer cells is being studied, but it involves the virus replicating within the cancer cells, leading to their destruction.

Side Effects

As VET3-TGI is an experimental treatment in Phase 1 trials The full range of side effects is still being evaluated. Side effects observed in early trials of similar oncolytic viruses can include flu-like symptoms (fever Chills Fatigue) Injection site reactions (if injected directly) And other systemic effects. More specific side effects related to VET3-TGI and its combination with atezolizumab are being closely monitored in the ongoing clinical trials.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
