Description

Thymalfasin is a synthetic immune modulator that enhances T-cell function and is being used in combination therapies for microsatellite stable (MSS) colorectal cancer. This immunomodulatory agent is particularly relevant for MSS/pMMR colorectal cancer patients who typically have poor responses to conventional checkpoint inhibitors alone. In colorectal cancer treatment, thymalfasin is combined with PD-1 inhibitors and standard chemoradiotherapy regimens to potentially overcome immune resistance in MSS tumors.

Mechanism of Action

Thymalfasin works by binding to and activating specific receptors on T-helper cells and dendritic cells, enhancing the maturation and function of T-lymphocytes. It promotes the production of interferon-gamma and interleukin-2, thereby augmenting the body's cellular immune response against cancer cells.
