Taselisib (** Generic name only (development discontinued) **)
Other Medications
Description
Taselisib is an investigational drug that was studied in clinical trials for certain types of advanced cancers, including colorectal cancer. It is currently not approved for use in colorectal cancer. Clinical trials, like NCT02465060, investigated taselisib in patients whose tumors had specific genetic changes, such as a MET mutation. These trials aimed to see if taselisib could shrink tumors or slow their growth in these patients. Taselisib targets a specific protein involved in cell signaling pathways that can contribute to cancer growth. The development of taselisib has been discontinued.
Mechanism of Action
Taselisib is a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase delta (PI3Kδ) inhibitor. It works by blocking the activity of the PI3Kδ enzyme, which is involved in signaling pathways that promote cell growth, survival, and proliferation. By inhibiting PI3Kδ, taselisib aims to disrupt these pathways and potentially stop or slow down the growth of cancer cells.
