Description

TAS0728 is an experimental drug currently being studied in clinical trials for various advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is being investigated for patients whose tumors have specific abnormalities related to HER2 or HER3, which are proteins sometimes found on cancer cells. The goal of the trials is to determine the safety, how the drug is processed by the body (pharmacokinetics), its effects (pharmacodynamics), how individual genetic factors (pharmacogenomics) might affect its action, and whether it has any anti-cancer activity (efficacy). This drug is not yet approved for treating colorectal cancer or any other condition.

Mechanism of Action

TAS0728 is being studied as a potential treatment for cancers with specific HER2 or HER3 abnormalities. The exact way TAS0728 works is still under investigation, but it is designed to target pathways involved in tumor growth and survival, potentially interfering with the signals that HER2 or HER3 abnormalities cause in cancer cells. The specific molecular target and detailed mechanism are being characterized in ongoing clinical trials.

Side Effects

TAS0728 is currently in early-phase clinical trials (Phase 1). As a result The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. Information from the Phase 1 trial (NCT03410927) will help determine the common and serious side effects associated with TAS0728. Patients participating in these trials are closely monitored for any adverse events.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
