Description
Senna is a stimulant laxative derived from the leaves and fruit of the Senna alexandrina plant, commonly used to treat constipation. In colorectal cancer patients, it is primarily used as a supportive care medication to manage constipation caused by opioid pain medications or other cancer treatments.
Mechanism of Action
Senna works by stimulating the muscles in the intestinal wall to promote bowel movements and increase fluid secretion into the bowel.
