Description
Ridaforolimus is an mTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin) inhibitor that has been evaluated in combination therapy approaches for colorectal cancer. This targeted therapy belongs to the class of rapamycin analogs and has been studied particularly in combination with cetuximab for advanced colorectal cancer patients. The drug represents part of combination strategies aimed at overcoming resistance mechanisms in metastatic colorectal cancer treatment.
Mechanism of Action
Ridaforolimus selectively inhibits mTOR kinase activity, which plays a central role in cellular growth, proliferation, and survival signaling pathways. By blocking mTOR signaling, the drug disrupts protein synthesis and cell cycle progression, leading to growth inhibition and apoptosis in cancer cells.
