Description

Plenvu is a low-volume polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based bowel preparation solution specifically formulated for colon cleansing prior to colonoscopy procedures. In colorectal cancer care, Plenvu is used to ensure optimal bowel preparation for screening colonoscopies, diagnostic evaluations, and surveillance procedures in CRC patients. This osmotic laxative provides effective colon cleansing with a reduced volume compared to traditional bowel preparations, improving patient tolerability and compliance.

Mechanism of Action

Plenvu works through osmotic action, where polyethylene glycol molecules retain water in the intestinal lumen, preventing absorption and creating a hyperosmotic environment. This mechanism promotes fluid accumulation in the bowel, stimulating peristalsis and facilitating the evacuation of intestinal contents to achieve thorough colon cleansing necessary for high-quality colonoscopic visualization.
