Pidnarulex

Other Medications

Description

Pidnarulex (also known as CX-5461) is an experimental drug currently being studied in clinical trials for certain types of colorectal cancer. It is being investigated specifically for patients with microsatellite stable (MSS) colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver and does not respond to current treatments (refractory). Trials are evaluating pidnarulex both by itself and in combination with another immunotherapy drug called cemiplimab. The goal is to see if pidnarulex can help slow cancer growth (progression-free survival) and potentially improve overall survival in these patients. These trials are in the early phase (Phase 1), focusing on determining the right dose and assessing safety.

Mechanism of Action

Pidnarulex is designed to target a specific process within cancer cells. It interferes with the early steps of protein production, specifically targeting the ribosome before it is fully assembled. By disrupting this process, pidnarulex aims to stop cancer cells from growing and multiplying. The specific molecular target is being characterized in clinical trials.

Side Effects

As pidnarulex is an experimental drug in early-phase trials (Phase 1) The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. The primary focus of Phase 1 trials is to determine the safety and tolerability of the drug. Information about specific side effects will become clearer as more patients are treated in later phases of clinical trials.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
