Description
Pegvisomant is used to treat patients with acromegaly due to excess growth hormone secretion and is not indicated for the treatment of colorectal cancer. It works by blocking the effects of excessive GH in the body, which can lead to symptoms such as joint pain and swelling; it does not have any known role in oncology or colorectal cancer management.
Mechanism of Action
Pegvisomant is a long-acting analog of growth hormone (GH) that binds to and activates the GH receptor, thereby antagonizing excess endogenous GH; it does not cross-react with other cytokine receptors.

Hypothyroidism; hyperglycemia; arthralgia; myalgia
