Other Medications

Description

Pantoprazole is not used in the treatment of colorectal cancer but rather for conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is commonly prescribed to reduce stomach acid and protect the esophagus from damage due to acid reflux. In clinical practice, it is widely used off-label for various gastrointestinal disorders.

Mechanism of Action

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that works by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing acid secretion.
