Nm1f

Other Medications

Description

Nm1f is an experimental medication currently being studied in clinical trials for advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is being tested in Phase 1 trials to determine its safety, how the body processes it (pharmacokinetics), its effects on the body (pharmacodynamics), and if it shows early signs of fighting cancer. These trials are called 'first-in-human' studies, meaning it's one of the first times the drug is being given to people. Nm1f is being investigated both on its own (monotherapy) and in combination with another immunotherapy drug called pembrolizumab (Keytruda®). The goal of these early trials is to find the right dose and understand how patients respond before moving to larger studies.

Mechanism of Action

Nm1f is being developed as an immunotherapy drug. It targets a specific protein on immune cells called PVRIG (PVRIG). By targeting PVRIG, Nm1f aims to enhance the activity of the immune system, specifically T cells, to help them recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. PVRIG is thought to act as a 'brake' on the immune response against tumors. Blocking this brake could potentially unleash the immune system to fight the cancer. The specific mechanism and how it interacts with the immune system are being further characterized in ongoing clinical trials.

Side Effects

As Nm1f is an experimental drug in Phase 1 trials Its full range of side effects is still being evaluated. The primary focus of Phase 1 trials is to assess safety and determine the maximum tolerated dose. Participants in the trial will be closely monitored for any adverse events. Information about specific side effects observed in the trials is not yet widely available But common side effects associated with immunotherapy drugs can include fatigue Rash Diarrhea Nausea And potential effects on organ systems. More detailed safety information will become available as the trials progress.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
