Description

MRTX0902 is an experimental drug currently being studied in clinical trials for certain solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is being investigated specifically in patients whose tumors have specific mutations in genes involved in the KRAS MAPK pathway, such as KRAS, BRAF, or EGFR mutations. The trials are evaluating MRTX0902 both on its own and in combination with another experimental drug called adagrasib. The goal of these early-phase trials (Phase 1 and Phase 2) is primarily to determine the safe dosage of MRTX0902, understand how the body processes the drug (pharmacokinetics), and gather initial information about whether the drug shows any signs of effectiveness (clinical activity) in patients with these specific tumor mutations. It is not yet approved for use in colorectal cancer or any other condition.

Mechanism of Action

MRTX0902 is being studied as a potential treatment for cancers driven by mutations in the KRAS MAPK pathway. This pathway is a series of steps inside cells that helps control cell growth and division. Mutations in genes like KRAS, BRAF, and EGFR can lead to uncontrolled cell growth, contributing to cancer development. MRTX0902 is designed to target a specific protein involved in this pathway. The specific molecular target is being characterized in clinical trials. By targeting this protein, MRTX0902 aims to disrupt the signaling pathway and potentially slow or stop the growth of cancer cells with these specific mutations.

Side Effects

As MRTX0902 is still in early-phase clinical trials (Phase 1/2) The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. Information about side effects from these trials is not yet publicly available. Researchers are carefully monitoring patients in the trials to assess the safety and tolerability of MRTX0902 Both when given alone and in combination with adagrasib. More information about side effects will become available as the trials progress.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
