Other Medications

Description

Methylprednisolone is a synthetic corticosteroid used as supportive care in colorectal cancer treatment to manage inflammation, allergic reactions, and side effects from chemotherapy. It serves as an antiemetic agent to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with cancer treatments and helps reduce inflammatory responses that may occur during therapy.

Mechanism of Action

Methylprednisolone binds to glucocorticoid receptors in cells and modulates gene transcription to suppress inflammatory mediators and immune responses. It inhibits the release of inflammatory cytokines and stabilizes cell membranes to reduce tissue inflammation and allergic reactions.
