Lewis-Y (Various)

Other Medications

Description

Lewis-Y is a carbohydrate antigen that serves as a target for immunotherapy approaches in colorectal cancer treatment. This antigen is overexpressed on many colorectal cancer cells, making it a suitable target for antibody-based therapeutic strategies.

Mechanism of Action

Anti-Lewis-Y antibodies bind specifically to Lewis-Y antigens expressed on cancer cell surfaces, triggering immune-mediated destruction of tumor cells through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and complement activation.
