Description

JS004 is an experimental medication currently being studied in clinical trials for advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer, in patients who have not responded to standard treatments. It is being tested in combination with another experimental immunotherapy drug called Toripalimab. This is a Phase 1 trial, which means the main goals are to determine the safety and side effects of the combination and to see if it has any early signs of effectiveness. JS004 is a type of immunotherapy, specifically a monoclonal antibody. It is not yet approved for treating colorectal cancer or any other condition.

Mechanism of Action

JS004 is a humanized monoclonal antibody. It targets a specific protein on immune cells called BTLA (B and T Lymphocyte Attenuator). By blocking BTLA, JS004 aims to enhance the activity of the immune system, specifically T cells, to help them recognize and attack cancer cells. It is being studied in combination with Toripalimab, another immunotherapy agent, to see if this combination boosts the immune response against the tumor more effectively than either drug alone.

Side Effects

Because JS004 is an experimental drug in early-phase clinical trials (Phase 1) The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. The NCT05427396 trial is primarily focused on assessing safety and tolerability. Common side effects seen with other monoclonal antibodies and immunotherapies can include infusion reactions Fatigue Rash Itching And potential effects on various organs. Specific side effects related to the combination of JS004 and Toripalimab are being closely monitored in the trial.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
