US Experimental IV 1 Clinical Trials
IL-15 receptor

Description

IL-15 is a cytokine immunotherapy that enhances natural killer (NK) cell activation and proliferation as part of adoptive cell therapy approaches. In colorectal cancer treatment, IL-15 is administered at low doses in combination with allogeneic NK cells to stimulate anti-tumor immune responses. This cytokine therapy may be used alone with NK cells or in combination with PD-1 inhibitors like pembrolizumab for advanced solid tumors including CRC.

Mechanism of Action

IL-15 binds to the IL-15 receptor complex on immune cells, particularly NK cells and CD8+ T cells, triggering JAK-STAT signaling pathways that promote cell survival, proliferation, and cytotoxic function. This cytokine stimulation enhances the ability of NK cells to recognize and eliminate cancer cells while supporting memory T cell responses against tumor antigens.
