A33 antigen

Description

Hua33 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the A33 antigen, a glycoprotein highly expressed on the surface of colorectal cancer cells. This targeted therapy is designed specifically for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer and has been evaluated in combination with chemotherapy agents like capecitabine. The antibody can be conjugated with radioactive iodine-131 to create a radioimmunotherapy approach for enhanced tumor targeting.

Mechanism of Action

Hua33 binds specifically to the A33 antigen, which is abundantly expressed on normal intestinal epithelium and colorectal carcinomas but has limited expression in other tissues. When conjugated with 131I, the antibody delivers targeted radiation directly to tumor cells expressing the A33 antigen, causing localized DNA damage and cell death while minimizing systemic toxicity.
