CEACAM5 (CEA)

Description

HMN14 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the CEACAM5 antigen (carcinoembryonic antigen, CEA) commonly overexpressed on colorectal cancer cells. It has been developed as both an unconjugated antibody and as a radioimmunotherapeutic agent when labeled with yttrium-90 (90Y-hMN14). The medication is designed to deliver targeted therapy to CEA-positive colorectal tumors, with particular focus on treating patients with limited residual disease following surgical resection.

Mechanism of Action

HMN14 binds specifically to the CEACAM5 (CEA) protein found on the surface of colorectal cancer cells. When conjugated with yttrium-90, the antibody delivers targeted radioactive therapy directly to tumor cells, causing DNA damage and cell death through beta radiation emission while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues.
