Her-2-neu (Herceptin, Kadcyla, Enhertu)

Other Medications

Description

HER2/neu is a protein receptor that becomes overexpressed in approximately 2-5% of colorectal cancers, making it a potential therapeutic target. Anti-HER2 targeted therapies are used to treat colorectal tumors that demonstrate HER2 amplification or overexpression when other treatment options have been exhausted.

Mechanism of Action

HER2-targeted agents bind to the HER2 protein receptor on cancer cell surfaces, blocking growth signals that promote tumor proliferation and survival. This targeted approach leads to cancer cell death and tumor shrinkage in HER2-positive colorectal cancers.
