Description
GI-102 is an experimental medicine currently being studied in clinical trials for various advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is being investigated to see if it is safe and effective. GI-102 is a bi-specific Fc fusion protein, meaning it's designed to interact with two different targets in the body. It is being tested both by itself and in combination with other cancer treatments like bevacizumab, pembrolizumab, doxorubicin, eribulin, paclitaxel, and trastuzumab deruxtecan. The trials are in early phases (Phase 1), meaning researchers are primarily looking at safety and determining the right dose. It is not yet approved for treating colorectal cancer or any other condition.
Mechanism of Action
GI-102 is a novel bi-specific protein. One part of the protein (CD80) targets tumor cells and certain immune cells (Treg cells). The other part (IL-2 variant) is designed to stimulate the activity of other immune cells, like NK cells and CD8 T cells, which can help fight cancer. The specific molecular targets and the exact way GI-102 works are still being characterized in clinical trials.
