Gastrin-17

Description

G17DT is an immunotherapeutic vaccine that targets gastrin-17, a hormone that promotes growth of certain gastrointestinal cancers including colorectal carcinoma. The vaccine consists of gastrin-17 conjugated to diphtheria toxoid to stimulate an immune response against gastrin-producing cells. G17DT has been evaluated in colorectal cancer patients both as monotherapy and in combination with chemotherapy agents like irinotecan.

Mechanism of Action

G17DT works by inducing antibodies against gastrin-17, a gastrointestinal hormone that stimulates cell proliferation and angiogenesis in colorectal tumors. By neutralizing gastrin-17, the vaccine aims to reduce tumor growth signals and potentially slow cancer progression.
