Description

FUDR-Dex is used in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) as an investigational therapy; its efficacy and safety are currently being evaluated in clinical trials. It may be administered via intra-arterial infusion to target tumor cells directly, potentially reducing systemic toxicity compared to traditional chemotherapy.

Mechanism of Action

FUDR-Dex combines floxuridine, a fluoropyrimidine antimetabolite that interferes with DNA synthesis by inhibiting thymidylate synthase and dexamethasone, an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid which may enhance the efficacy of floxuridine through its anti-inflammatory effects.
