Description

FT500 is an experimental therapy currently being studied in clinical trials for advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is a type of immunotherapy derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to create natural killer (NK) cells. These NK cells are designed to be ready to use ('off-the-shelf') and potentially help the immune system fight cancer, possibly even overcoming resistance to other immunotherapies like checkpoint inhibitors. The goal of the trials is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of FT500, both when given alone and in combination with other cancer drugs, in patients whose cancer has not responded to standard treatments. It is important to note that FT500 is not yet approved for treating colorectal cancer or any other condition.

Mechanism of Action

FT500 is a cell-based therapy using natural killer (NK) cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). NK cells are a type of immune cell that can recognize and kill cancer cells. FT500 is designed to enhance the immune response against tumors. It is being investigated for its potential to bridge innate (natural) and adaptive (learned) immunity and overcome resistance to other immunotherapies. The specific way FT500 interacts with cancer cells and the immune system is still being studied in clinical trials.

Side Effects

FT500 is an investigational drug And its side effects are still being evaluated in ongoing clinical trials. The safety profile is not yet fully established. Information about specific side effects will become available as more data is collected from the trials.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
