FOG-001

Description

FOG-001 is an experimental medication currently being studied in clinical trials for various advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is being investigated to see if it is safe, how the body processes it, and if it has any effect on tumors. Specifically, trials are looking at FOG-001 in patients with advanced colorectal cancer who have certain genetic changes, such as APC mutations or MSI-H status (microsatellite instability-high). Some trials are also looking at patients based on PD-L1 expression levels. FOG-001 is being tested both by itself (monotherapy) and in combination with other common cancer treatments like chemotherapy (5-Fluorouracil, Oxaliplatin, Leucovorin) and immunotherapy (Nivolumab, Bevacizumab). These trials are in the early phase (Phase 1), meaning the primary goal is to determine the best dose and assess safety, not necessarily to prove effectiveness, although some early signs of activity might be observed.

Mechanism of Action

FOG-001 is being studied as a potential treatment for cancers that have activating mutations in the Wnt signaling pathway. The Wnt pathway is a series of steps inside cells that normally helps control cell growth and division. In some cancers, this pathway becomes overactive due to mutations, leading to uncontrolled growth. FOG-001 is designed to interfere with this pathway. The specific way FOG-001 interacts with the Wnt pathway is being investigated in clinical trials.
