US FDA Approved Oral 3 Clinical Trials

Description

Fleet is a sodium phosphate-based bowel preparation solution used for colorectal cleansing prior to colonoscopy and other diagnostic procedures in colorectal cancer screening and surveillance. This hyperosmotic laxative works by drawing water into the intestinal tract to promote rapid bowel evacuation. Fleet preparations are essential for achieving adequate bowel cleansing to ensure optimal visualization during colonoscopic examination for colorectal cancer detection and polyp identification.

Mechanism of Action

Fleet contains sodium phosphate salts that act as hyperosmotic agents, drawing large volumes of water into the intestinal lumen through osmotic gradient effects. This mechanism rapidly increases intraluminal fluid volume and stimulates peristalsis, resulting in thorough bowel evacuation and cleansing of the colon.
