Description
E7820 is an anti-angiogenic compound that targets integrin ?2 to inhibit tumor blood vessel formation and growth. In colorectal cancer treatment, it has been evaluated as combination therapy with standard regimens including cetuximab, irinotecan-based chemotherapy (FOLFIRI), and bevacizumab in patients with locally advanced or metastatic disease. The drug represents a novel approach to disrupting tumor angiogenesis through integrin pathway modulation.
Mechanism of Action
E7820 works by selectively inhibiting integrin ?2, a cell surface receptor protein that plays a crucial role in angiogenesis and tumor cell adhesion to blood vessel walls. By blocking this integrin, the drug disrupts the signaling pathways necessary for new blood vessel formation that tumors require for growth and metastasis.
