Description

Ciforadenant is an investigational drug currently being studied in clinical trials for various advanced cancers, including colorectal cancer. It is an oral medication. In trials for colorectal cancer, it has been studied alone, in combination with another investigational drug called CPI-006, and in combination with both CPI-006 and pembrolizumab (Keytruda). Ciforadenant is being investigated to see if it can help improve the effectiveness of other cancer treatments, like immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) and potentially CPI-006, which targets CD73. It is not yet approved for treating colorectal cancer or any other condition.

Mechanism of Action

Ciforadenant works by blocking a specific receptor in the body called the adenosine 2A receptor. Adenosine is a molecule that can affect the immune system and tumor growth. By blocking this receptor, ciforadenant may help the immune system better recognize and attack cancer cells, potentially enhancing the effects of other cancer therapies like immunotherapy.

Side Effects

As an investigational drug in early-phase trials (Phase 1) The full range of side effects for ciforadenant is still being evaluated. Common side effects observed in trials involving ciforadenant in combination with other drugs have included fatigue Nausea Diarrhea And decreased appetite.
