Cetuximab-irdye800 (Various)

Other Medications

Description

Cetuximab-IRDye800 is a fluorescent imaging agent that combines the EGFR-targeting monoclonal antibody cetuximab with the near-infrared fluorescent dye IRDye800CW. This conjugate enables real-time visualization of EGFR-expressing colorectal cancer tissues during surgical procedures through fluorescence-guided imaging.

Mechanism of Action

The cetuximab component binds specifically to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) proteins overexpressed on colorectal cancer cells. The attached IRDye800CW fluorophore emits near-infrared light when activated, allowing surgeons to identify tumor margins and residual cancer tissue with enhanced precision.
