Description
BCA101 is an experimental medication currently being studied in clinical trials for certain advanced solid tumors. It is being investigated as a potential treatment option, sometimes in combination with other drugs like pembrolizumab. In colorectal cancer trials, BCA101 is being studied specifically in patients whose tumors have EGFR mutations and/or express PD-L1. The goal of these early-phase trials (Phase 1) is primarily to determine the safety and tolerability of BCA101, both when given alone and in combination with pembrolizumab, and to find the best dose for further studies. It is not yet approved for treating colorectal cancer or any other cancer.
Mechanism of Action
BCA101 is being studied as a potential therapy for cancers driven by EGFR mutations. The specific way BCA101 works (its molecular target or mechanism of action) is still being investigated in clinical trials. It is designed to target pathways involved in tumor growth and survival, potentially interfering with the signals that EGFR mutations cause in cancer cells. It is being tested alone and in combination with pembrolizumab, an immunotherapy drug, to see if this combination is effective and safe.
