AVZO-021

Other Medications

Description

AVZO-021 is an experimental drug currently being studied in clinical trials for advanced solid tumors, including certain types of colorectal cancer. It is being investigated to see if it can help stop cancer cells from growing and dividing. The trials are in an early phase (Phase 1), focusing on determining the safest dose and looking for early signs of effectiveness. The trials specifically include patients whose tumors have certain genetic changes, like CCNE1 amplification or HER2 mutations/amplification. It is being tested alone and in combination with other cancer drugs.

Mechanism of Action

AVZO-021 works by targeting a specific protein called cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2). CDK2 is involved in controlling the cell cycle, the process by which cells grow and divide. By inhibiting CDK2, AVZO-021 aims to stop cancer cells from progressing through the cell cycle, which can slow down or stop their growth and division.

Side Effects

As AVZO-021 is an experimental drug in early-phase trials (Phase 1) The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. The primary focus of Phase 1 trials is to assess the safety and tolerability of the drug. Information about specific side effects observed in the trials is not yet widely available But like many cancer drugs Potential side effects could include fatigue Nausea Changes in blood counts And other effects related to cell cycle inhibition. More information will become available as the trials progress.

Not all side effects are listed. Side effects vary by individual. Always consult your oncologist.
