Description
Artesunate is an antimalarial drug derived from artemisinin that is being evaluated for repurposing in colorectal cancer treatment. Mechanism of Action
Artesunate generates reactive oxygen species and causes DNA damage in cancer cells through its interaction with cellular iron. The drug's endoperoxide bridge reacts with heme iron to produce free radicals that induce oxidative stress and apoptosis in malignant cells.
