Description

ACE2016 is a new type of cancer treatment called cell therapy. It uses special immune cells called gamma delta T cells (gdT cells) that are collected from healthy donors. These cells are then given to patients with certain types of advanced cancer. ACE2016 is being studied in clinical trials to see if it is safe and effective for treating solid tumors that express a protein called Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR). The trial is looking at how well the treatment is tolerated, how long the cells last in the body, how they affect the cancer, and if they can shrink tumors. It is currently in early-phase trials (Phase 1) and is not yet approved for widespread use.

Mechanism of Action

ACE2016 is an 'off-the-shelf' allogeneic cell therapy. This means it uses immune cells (gamma delta T cells) from a healthy donor, rather than cells taken from the patient themselves. These gamma delta T cells are designed to target and kill cancer cells, particularly those that express EGFR. The specific way these cells recognize and attack cancer cells is being studied in clinical trials.

Side Effects

As ACE2016 is an investigational therapy in early-phase clinical trials (Phase 1) The full range of potential side effects is still being evaluated. The primary goal of the current trials is to assess safety and tolerability. Information about specific side effects observed in the trials is not yet available for public patient education materials. Patients participating in the trial will be closely monitored for any adverse events.
