In colorectal cancer, it specifically targets HER2-positive metastatic tumors, which represent approximately 2-3% of all colorectal cancers. This medication delivers cytotoxic chemotherapy directly to HER2-overexpressing cancer cells while potentially affecting nearby tumor cells through its bystander effect.
