Description

Peg is used off-label in colorectal cancer as an adjunct to chemotherapy or immunotherapy; it has shown modest efficacy in clinical trials when combined with other agents, particularly in patients who have progressed on standard treatments; its use is mainly experimental and not yet approved for routine use in CCR.

Mechanism of Action

Peg interferes with DNA replication and transcription in cancer cells, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis; it also enhances the immune response against tumor cells.

Side Effects

Fatigue; neutropenia; thrombocytopenia; fever; chills; myalgias; arthralgias
