Peg-rhg-csf (Neulasta, Fulphila, Ziextenzo)

Other Medications

Description

Peg-rhG-CSF (pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) is a long-acting growth factor used as supportive care in colorectal cancer patients receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy. It stimulates the bone marrow to produce neutrophils, helping to prevent or treat neutropenia that commonly occurs during cancer treatment.

Mechanism of Action

The medication binds to G-CSF receptors on neutrophil precursor cells in the bone marrow, promoting their proliferation, differentiation, and maturation into functional neutrophils. The pegylation process extends the drug's half-life, allowing for less frequent dosing compared to non-pegylated formulations.
