Description

Ezabenlimab is a monoclonal antibody immunotherapy agent that targets the PD-1 (programmed death-1) receptor on T cells. This checkpoint inhibitor is being developed for treatment of advanced colorectal cancer, particularly in combination with other targeted agents. Based on clinical trial data, it shows activity in microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) and mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) colorectal tumors, as well as potential broader applications in combination therapy approaches.

Mechanism of Action

Ezabenlimab binds to the PD-1 receptor on activated T cells, blocking the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2. This blockade prevents tumor cells from suppressing the immune response, allowing T cells to maintain their anti-tumor activity and potentially leading to tumor regression.
